Mohammed attends HCT silver jubilee

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attend the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the exemption for 14 citizens from payment of remaining installments on housing loans due to the circumstances beyond their control such as death, health disability and low- income.

Sami Gargash, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment and Member of the Board, on behalf of the citizens who have been exempted from repaying remaining installments of housing loans, thanked and appreciated the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on this generous gesture, which reflects his keenness to ensure a decent life for citizens in general, and his interest to lift suffering for those who face difficulties due to circumstances beyond their control, and his constant endeavor to support people of humanitarian situations in all possible ways.

Gargash pointed out that the committee responsible of studying the requests for exemptions from the housing loans, examined 32 applications, given go ahead for 14, freezing deduction for 6, and declined rest for not meeting the exemption criteria.

According to him the value of loans exempted is Dh5.679 million out of a total of Dh5.2 billion borrowed by around 10,000 individuals.

Mohammed attends Higher Colleges of Technology 25th anniversary

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), which were established in 1988 as per a federal decree by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at Rixos The Palm Dubai hotel on the Palm Jumeirah yesterday evening.

The event started with the rendition of the national anthem, followed by a documentary about important activities celebrated by the Higher Colleges of Technology over a quarter of the decade, in addition to quotes by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is patronizing the “Education Without Borders” conference, as well as quotes by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Paying tribute to the founder of the modern UAE and founder of the Higher Colleges of Technology late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and HCT Chancellor Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak delivered a speech on the occasion, highlighting how the Higher Colleges of Technology have become pioneering landmarks of education with the unlimited support of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Nahyan also noted the support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his constant follow up on the various activities of the college, as well as gracing the events organised by the colleges as a sign of encouragement to the students to attain excellence.

Sheikh Nahyan also thanked Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for their support. He noted that there are 17 Higher Colleges of Technology across the UAE serving approximately 20,000 students and have graduated around 60,000 students, who today hold reputed positions in the country’s various institutions.

Sheikh Mohammed then stood for a group photo with HCT students from different countries and welcomed them in the UAE. His Highness expressed happiness with the multinational gathering of students and the diversity of cultures present on one stage.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed urged students to uphold noble human values that create bridges of communication, understanding and interaction among cultures and lay the foundations for the exchange of expertise. “Youth are key pillars in society development. Their innovations, creations and accomplishments are the driving force of development,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

Concluding the celebration, Sheikh Mohammed cut the cake on the occasion and congratulated Sheikh Nahyan on the various achievements of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Present at the event were Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Education Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Director of the Dubai Information Department Sheikh Hasher bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Chairman of the Juma Al Majid Cultural Centre Juma Al Majed, Chairman of the Lease Committee at Dubai Municipality Saeed Mohammed Al Kindi, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, a number of distinguished society figures and more than a thousand students from over 70 countries participating in the seventh edition of the week-long “Education Without Borders” held in Dubai.
