Mohammed attends Royal Ascot Festival

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai attended today the fourth day of the Royal Ascot Racing Festival, held at Royal Ascot Racecourse in the presence of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and members of the Britain royal family.

The festival, which concludes today, was also attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a number of senior officials and  a large gathering of racing enthusiasts.

Princess Haya’s Newfangled, ridden by William Buick and trained by John Gosden, won the 1200 - metre G2 Albany Stakes recording 1.16.78. With this win, Newfangled qualifies for the title of the 2013 English 1000 Guineas.

After the race Princess Haya bint Al Hussein received the trophy from Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani.

Queen Elizabeth received the trophy after her horse Estimate won The Queen's Vase on the fourth day at Royal Ascot.

In a statement to the British Television, Princess Haya expressed pride over the great achievement of Newfangled, saying Newfangled is the descent of New Approach and is connected to the renowned Machiavellian.

She also commended the efforts of the trainer John Gosden.
