Mohammed attends UAE University's graduation ceremony

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today attended the graduation ceremony of the 33rd batch of the United Arab Emirates University's (UAEU) students in Al Ain.

The national anthem of UAE was played upon the arrival of Sheikh Mohammed at the university's main campus.

Among those who attended the ceremony were Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sheikhs, ministers, key civil and military officials and a number of heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), welcomed in his speech Sheikh Mohammed, the sponsor of the ceremony, saying, "This happy day is the day of the graduation of a new batch of Emirati citizens from one of the country's biggest educational institutions. The UAEU is one of the most prestigious universities, for its constant development with the latest educational and technological methodologies."

He also extended thanks and appreciation to the sponsor of the country's cultural civilisation, particularly, the educational boom, the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who spares no efforts to make the Emiratis happy. He added that the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founded the UAEU and launched the educational renaissance  in the country as well.

Sheikh Hamdan also extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum  for his interest and his field tours to the educational institutions in the country as well as his far-sighted directives for staff on the importance of being on par with spirit of modernisation and its requirements and achieving e-education nationwide.

He also thanked General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his permanent support for the education sector, programmes and plans, which would contribute to development of this field in order to build UAE citizens.

Mohammed Ateeq Al Dhaheri, one of the graduates, delivered a speech on behalf of his colleagues and thanked the wise leadership for its care for education in the UAE.

In his statement to the audience before distributing certificates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said,'' I congratulate you and the families of the graduates who waited for 20 years to see their sons and daughters' graduation ceremony and receiving their academic certificates.

“I convey to you the greetings of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his best wishes to achieve more progress in your academic attainment for the advantage of your homeland and the coming generations."

He added, "You have been through 20 years of planned work and now you are about to start a new era where you can plan for yourselves. 

"Great men know what they need from this life and in the UAE, we have been learning for 42 years and we are still learning and every day we learn something new."

He reiterated that “you will move from one summit to another with education and knowledge and a man should have great ambitions, wishing them to have the highest ranks in their beloved homeland.”

Then, Sheikh Mohammed along with Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, distributed certificates to 434 students from all specialisations.
