Mohammed attends ‘Watan Al Ahlam’ operetta

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a musical performance titled ‘Watan Al Ahlam’ (The Country of Dreams) Operetta organised by the Ministry of Education at Dubai world Trade Centre on Wednesday.

Celebrating the conclusion of the school year 2012-2013, the musical was performed by more than 350 students from different schools across the UAE. The show symbolising different portraits of student lives in their quest for knowledge came to a conclusion amid applause; a graceful piece of art symbolising the love of students for their homeland.

Sheikh Mohammed was keen to share with the children his heartfelt appreciation and stood for group photos with them. His Highness praised the idea of concluding the school year with an operetta that depicts a true sense of belonging.

Applauding the students’ fine performance, Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the Minister of Education Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qatami and all workers at the ministry for this effort.

Present at the event were FNC Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Education Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qatami, Minister of Health Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of State Abdullah Ghobash, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, scholars and parents of students. 

Orders promotion of 4 Dubai Police officers who saved a patient's life

Sheikh Mohammed has ordered promotion of four personnel at Dubai Police in appreciation of their act of kindness after rushing to donate blood to a patient in one of Dubai's hospitals.

According to Dubai Police Commander- General Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the four policemen were on a routine patrol when one of them received a short message on his mobile phone appealing for blood donation to a patient in Rashid Hospital.

"After reading the message, the policeman called the operations centre for permission and rushed with his colleagues to donate their blood to the patient without asking about her nationality, religion or colour and by the grace of Allah, their blood helped save the patient's life," he added.

Lt. General Dahi Khalfan thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his gesture of rewarding the act of kindness by the four policemen.

Sheikh Mohammed ordered promotion of the four to their next ranks respectively. They are Sergeant Jamal Abdullah Faraj, Sergeant Yousif Ahmed Hassan, Corporal Ali Mohammed Al Jazz and Corporate Mohammed Abdel Safi.
