His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Abu Dhabi.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, and MoFA officials and employees.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the various sections of the ministry and was briefed on MoFA's work mechanisms both at home and abroad.

He was briefed about the efforts and contacts of the Ministry with countries and international organisations on humanitarian, rights and legal issues on child, woman, labour and human rights. The MoFA backs all the international laws that protect children, women and workers from the exploitation.

The briefing also covered the efforts of the Ministry to promote the UAE's bid to win the international support for hosting Dubai Expo 2020.

The MoFA led by Sheikh Abdullah is leading a shuttle diplomacy to win votes for the UAE's bid ahead of the voting, which will be held in Paris on November 27.

To gain international support to host the world event in Dubai city, the UAE diplomacy chief visited a number of countries, where he met the foreign ministers and other senior officials. Sheikh Abdullah formed a special team to assist him in the mission so as to win extensive international support to the UAE's expo bid.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed expressed his thanks and appreciation for the team work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, who dedicatedly works for the interests of the nation and its citizens, implementing the UAE's foreign policies to the fullest extent, wishing them the best in achieving success at all levels.

He thanked Sheikh Abdullah and the cadres of the MoFA, saying the staff at the Ministry are leaders. Sheikh Mohammed noted that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, are satisfied with the performance of the Ministry.

The UAE Vice President urged the staff to exert more efforts to sustain the outstanding reputation earned by the UAE, thanks to the UAE founding father late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose legacy is followed by Sheikh Khalifa.

Sheikh Mohammed said that he was pleased about support to the UAE's bid to host Expo 2020 by a number of friendly countries.

"This reflects respect of these countries to us, and highlights the diplomatic role of Sheikh Abdullah given his contacts with the decision makers and senior officials during his tours to those countries."

He reiterated that the UAE led by Sheikh Khalifa has outlined clear foreign policy and strategy regarding the international relations, noting that "We do not interfere in internal affairs of others nor forge alliances against others. Our foreign policy is based on moderation, mutual interest and adherence to the United Nations conventions and agreements, which spread justice, equality and peace worldwide."

He posed for a memorial photograph with the flags of sisterly and friendly countries. Sheikh Mohammed also posed for a photograph with the staff of the MoFA.
