Mohammed bin Rashid witnesses Dubai International Cycling Tour stage

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, watched the 4th stage of the Dubai International Cycle Tour.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of Dubai’s Protocol Department, also witnessed the race from the first stage to ensure the safety of the participants in the race that started this morning from the Dubai International Marine Club.

The race continued past King Salman bin Abdulaziz Street, Sheikh Zayed Street and Jabal Ali Lehbab Street, then on to Al Ain Street, Al Yaseli Street, Al Qudrah Street, Al Imarat Street and Um Saqem Street in Dubai. It then went through the inner streets of the Motor City area, the Jumeirah Golf Course Street, Hessah Street, Al Asail Street, Qarn Sabkha Street and through the inner streets in Jumeirah Islands.

It continued past Al Naseem Street, Al Falak Street, Abdullah Omran Taryam Street, Sheikh Zayed Service Street and the inner streets in the Jumeirah Palm, to finally arrive at the end of its 1st stage at the Atlantis Hotel and Spa in the Jumeirah Palm.

A total of 128 participants representing 16 professional teams from the UAE and other countries, are taking part in the four-stage race, organised by the Dubai Sports Council, over a total distance of 181 kilometers.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid expressed his admiration and encouragement for sporting competitions that enable athletes from the UAE to participate alongside professional athletes from other countries. He believed that such competitions would enable the nation’s youth to make direct contact with their international counterparts and exchange experiences to sharpen their physical and mental skills.

He also emphasised the importance of all types of sports in the daily lives of ordinary people, to improve their overall health and reduce the likelihood of illnesses in old age by staying healthy, active and energetic.
