Mohammed bin Zayed congratulates President, VP, Rulers, UAE people

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has extended his congratulations and felicitations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and the UAE people on the UAE's success in being chosen to host the world EXPO 2020 in Dubai.

Expressing his great pleasure with the historic and well-earned victory which Dubai has made today, Sheikh Mohamed said, "it reflects the world's confidence in the ability of the UAE to host the biggest events and gives all of us the responsibility for doubling the efforts to make Expo 2020 in Dubai a unique and outstanding edition."

He praised the relentless efforts made recently by all those concerned towards perfecting the happiness of the country during its National Day celebrations.

He said, "What has been achieved today is a great work that made us all happy ahead of our National Day celebrations.

"Year after year, the UAE proves its ability to achieve its aims and visions, thanks to the strength of the nation built by our founding fathers and the wisdom of our leadership who was keen on preserving our national gains, and incessantly supporting the march of building and development as well as the nationals' capabilities for innovation and excellence in all fields."

He noted that the UAE is among the advanced nations in terms of the readiness of its infrastructure as well as its economic stature enabling it to host any global event.

Sheikh Mohamed also praised the sincere and efficient efforts which were made by the Dubai Expo team in the past months and which culminated in this wide support and well-earned victory.

He noted that the today's victory is a new addition to the giant achievements the UAE has been making since its establishment, as the country and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan walk in the footsteps of its founding father, the later Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, towards more glory and progress in all spheres.

"The UAE has a wide and accumulated experience in hosting mega global events for decades. So we were greatly confident that the UAE's bid to host Expo 2020 deserves to win. Our confidence was strengthened by the popular support and stance and the unlimited support shown by members of the community through their positive participation, cohesion and support to Dubai's bid," added the Crown Prince.

He thanked all fraternal and friendly countries which supported Dubai's bid to host Expo 2020, noting that "their generous gesture was the outcome of our friendly and fraternal ties that are based on the values of cooperation, understanding, solidarity and mutual respect. It earns our respect and interest.

"The theme of Dubai Expo 2020: 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future' is among the foundations the UAE adopts in its progress and development. It the UAE's open invitation to the world to communicate and forge effective partnerships, collective cooperation between individuals, societies and states in order to find the best solutions to the development, progress and prosperity of humanity," Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed added.
