Mohammed bin Zayed tours Adihex

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today toured the 11th edition of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex 2013), hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until September 07.

Sheikh Mohammed visited a number of local and foreign pavilions featuring at the Adihex, being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club. He toured the exhibition, which hosts over 600 exhibitors from 40 countries, of whom 100 are Emiratis.

The UAE nationals display hunting equipment, traditional sports and race products aimed at preserving the national heritage.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi was briefed on the products being showcased by the pavilions and efforts being exerted to preserve the elements of wildlife and raise awareness about sustainable hunting methods, falconry sports arts and saluki dogs, as well as plans to elevate these sports and Arab authentic hobbies Arab.

He was also briefed about the role of some institutions in organising the heritage competitions, events and efforts to foster the culture of fishing, hunting and conservation of Houbara birds from extinction, as well as efforts to publicise these traditional activities among students through awareness programmes and initiatives aimed at raising awareness in the minds of present and future generations.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed during his tour about the ancient Arab manuscripts and references, cutting and archeological tools related to the falconry.

He commended the quality of products featured in this event, citing the participation of youth and juniors to acquaint with the heritage of forefathers. Sheikh Mohammed referred to the interest of the UAE government in preserving the heritage and reviving its authentic components so as to implant them in young generation.

The tour took Sheikh Mohammed to the Abu Dhabi Falconers Club, the Emirates Falconers Club, the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and the Hair Academy, which presented its latest editions, the International Fund for Conservation of Houbaras, Japanese Pavilion, Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Environment & Protected Areas Authority and Qatari Pavilion.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, Executive Council Board member, Managing Director of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Advisor for Culture and Heritage at the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Higher Organising of the Adihex and Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of the Adihex.
