Mohammed honours future Emirati leaders

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended today part of a seminar organised by Dubai Press Club (DPC) on ''Social Media Networks : Culture of Use and Limits of Responsibility''.

The event attracted a galaxy of high profile local, Arab and foreign media professionals and journalists, and ICT experts at government departments.

Sheikh Mohammed heard - along with Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs and other officials - interventions from speakers.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director of DPC, explained to Sheikh Mohammed the objectives of holding the activity.

The Vice President praised the organisation of such dialogues and debates among social media networks experts for raising cultural awareness about the importance of these networks and their cultural and humanitarian role in building bridges among people and officials.

Sheikh Mohammed said the forum provided an ideal platform for discussion and knowledge sharing so as to come out with common beliefs on the optimum use of what he considered a ''double edge sword'' platforms.

Mohammed honours UAE Government Leaders Programme graduates

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honoured the latest batch of executive leaders to complete the UAE Government Leaders Programme in a special ceremony at the Grand Hyatt - Dubai on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed gave a speech highlighting the importance of investing in human capital; a principle forged by the blessed march of the Union in 1971 and evolved into a future vision that still drives the development of the Emirati element in all aspects to serve the community.

Speaking to future Emirati leaders in various fields of specialty, Sheikh Mohammed urged the graduates to continue their quest for knowledge and build the required expertise and know-how to tackle future challenges, adding that special focus will be given to fresh Emirati graduates who are bursting with energy.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that achievement is the true criterion of evaluating governments, leaders and executives. "We dedicate our achievements to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is the patron of the development march in the UAE," Sheikh Mohammed said.

"I take pride in distinct Emirati leaders and executives who have fulfilled their national duty and worked relentlessly to benefit their institutions and the UAE community," Sheikh Mohammed added. "Successful leaders hold the key to a bright future... It is they who will see to it that UAE Vision 2021 is fulfilled," His Highness said.

Touching on the subject of future challenges, Sheikh Mohammed urged graduates of the UAE Government Leaders Programme to maintain their passionate quest for excellence. "The people of the UAE expect you to surpass all challenges and march on with high spirits to place your country at the forefront. We believe that you are up to the challenge and that you will succeed," Sheikh Mohammed continued.

Sheikh Mohammed concluded his speech asking the graduates to be forward looking. His Highness said "Never look back, he who wants development always looks ahead. Believe in yourselves, inspire your employees and create a challenging work environment where teams work in perfect harmony with aims to achieve goals."

Prior to the distribution of certificate, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the newly-adopted vision by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources to develop the UAE Government Leaders Programme as per the best international standards. Sheikh Mohammed directed the programme to include a "Young Leaders" category in the programme agenda aimed at creating executive leaders at all levels.

Applauding the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources Humaid Al Qattami delivered a speech in which he announced the adoption of a new comprehensive framework for the programme in the areas of sourcing Emirati talent and providing them with complete training to create the next generation of executive leaders in all government entities.

Sheikh Mohammed then took the stage and distributed certificates on the graduates, wishing them further advancements in their careers and praising their role in serving their country.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Social Affairs Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, Minister of Justice Dr Hadif Ju'an Al Dhaheri, Minister of Environment and Water Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Major General Mohammed Dhaen Al Qamzi, Chairman of the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) Matar Mohammed Al Tayer, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and senior state officials and executives.
