Mohammed inspects Dh14bn new projects

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday appreciated the new and complementary Nakheel's projects scheduled to be implemented over the next three years, at cost Dh14 billion.

Touring Nakeel's head-office in Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during the tour by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of Dubai Ruler's Court and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocols and Hospitality in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed was received by Ali Rashid Lootah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nakheel and members, employees, and supervisory engineers of major Nakheel projects across the Emirate of Dubai.

He and the audience watched a presentation video on new projects and expansions for a quarter of an hour. Then he was briefed on the engineering models and maps of the projects displayed in the hall that were specifically prepared for this purpose. Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Lootah and his aides on the components and designs of promising development projects, which include Deira Boulevard project to be built on an area of more than 9 million square feet.
 
The project includes 'Deira Mall', which can accommodate 3,000 shops and will be surrounded by about 16 residential towers, offices, four residential complexes including 2,500 apartments and sports walkway, hotels and upscale resorts, recreational and tourist facilities and other features such as restaurants, cafes and a children's garden as well as charming views of the Arabian Gulf waters. The mall will feature a glass dome that will be half a kilometre long. 
 
He was also briefed about the designs and maps of the expansion project of Ibn Battuta on Sheikh Zayed Road. The project includes a covered indoor garden, equivalent to four football pitches and a lobby for restaurant courts, along with a five-star hotel, a cinema and an additional 4,000 vehicle parking spaces.
 
Sheikh Mohammed toured Al Khail Mall project at the junction of  Mohamed bin Zayed and Al Khail streets, constructed over an area of about 1.25 million square feet in the first phase.
 
Later he inspected the designs of the expansion project of 'Dragon City',  the new name of the Chinese city on Dubai-Al Aweer Street, which is being constructed over an area of 3.6 million square feet. The project will be completed by 2018.
 
Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction about the promising development projects and praised the efforts of the board,  the managers, the engineers and all employees of the company. He expressed his admiration for the stretchable and movable half-a-kilometre dome above the lobby of the 'Deira Mall.' Sheikh Mohammed expressed his admiration of the covered park of the expansion project of Ibn Battuta Mall.
 
While listening to the explanation made by Lootah, he said that Nakheel is one of the leading real estate and tourism developers that contributes effectively to the UAE economy and its prosperity.
 
Sheikh Mohammed commended Emirati talents and innovators who contribute to the social, economic, tourist and cultural development.

Mohammed receives General Motors President

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Tuesday received Dan Amman, President, General Motors, and his accompanying delegation at Nakheel's office.
 
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the meeting.
 
Sheikh Mohammed and Amman exchanged views on issues related to economy, investment and industrialisation sectors as well as ways to enhance presence of General Motors in the region through its regional office in Dubai.
 
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the presence of international companies and investments in the UAE through their regional offices, stressing the UAE's welcoming approach, in general, and Dubai in particular, to host such international and prestigious companies in the country in order to be a link and a communication centre between the East and the West in all domains.
 
President of General Motors extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed as well as other competent authorities for the unprecedented facilitations received by the company's regional office, which the company is planning to expand. It also plans to increase the number of staff as the office activities extend from the UAE to Middle East and North Africa (Mena)
 
Amman praised the UAE's and Dubai's huge potential to attract global investments, encourage its national economy and develop tourism sector which has all components and factors of success, highlighting the integrated and sophisticated infrastructure and security as well as social stability of the UAE society.
 
Among those who attended the meeting were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Mohammed Ibrahim AI Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler's Court, Government of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director- General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai and other officials.
