Mohammed issues decision on NMC

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a Cabinet decision No. 9 of 2013 with respect to the organisational chart of the National Media Council.
According to the new decision, the council will be tasked with shouldering all media-related responsibilities in the UAE and coordinating the media policy among the member emirates in line with the UAE internal and external policy with the aim of supporting the federation and highlighting the concept of national unity as a political entity that provides assurance and stability to citizens.
The council will also be tasked with supervising all mass media across the UAE, highlighting the UAE positions in Arab and international assemblies, receiving the world mass media representatives and correspondents of newspapers and news agencies and providing them with the necessary information on the UAE positions in all areas, representing the UAE in media conferences and activities inside and outside the UAE, issuing media licences to UAE media corporations and tracking the media content of everything printed and published in the UAE or imported from outside the UAE.
The Cabinet decision No. 34 of 2011 with respect to the organisational chart of the National Media Council will thereby be cancelled, and so will any rule that violates or is inconsistent with the new decision.
