Mohammed launches 'Saada' for Emiratis

In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has officially launched the smart Saada Health Insurance, dedicated to Emiratis in the Emirate of Dubai, targeting about 130,000 citizens.

The launch ceremony, which was held at Rashid Medical Library hall at the headquarters of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qattami, Chairman of the DHA Board, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of Protocols and Hospitality Department in Dubai as well as directors of hospitals and heads of departments and team, which prepared the project.

The ID card will be used for registration in the new smart health insurance programme.

Flanked by Sheikh Hamadan and Al Qattami, Sheikh Mohammed launched the Saada Health Insurance Programme after the national anthem was played. Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed and the audience viewed the documentary film on the health services being provided by the hospitals and clinics of the DHA.

He expressed his satisfaction with the programme, which reflects the keenness of the emirate's leadership regarding the health of citizens. Sheikh Mohammed said health and education topped his priorities to achieve the world-class standards, noting that education and health are the basic indicators for safety of community, its happiness and prosperity.

He urged the Board of Directors' members and all employees to exert more efforts to boost a culture of innovation and creativity in the field of medicine by focusing on research and studies that lead to new discoveries and modern curative methods.

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the team that had prepared the smart health insurance programme 'Saada', which comes into effect today (Tuesday).

The Board Chairman said the programme will serve about 130,000 citizens in the Emirate of Dubai, adding that it will provide better health services. 

Al Qattami extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed for his continuous support and relentless follow up of the developmental stages of public and private health sectors at the federal and local levels.

He noted that the DHA exerted efforts to implement the health insurance law to achieve sustainability of medical treatment, full healthcare and enhance investment environment in the medical sector.

Dr. Haider Al Yousuf, Director of Health Funding at the DHA, unveiled the advantages and privileges of the programme, which focusses on mandatory prevention and early detection of diseases for all beneficiaries, with premium for each subscriber touches Dh500,000 annually.

He added that beneficiaries can receive a number of health services with a co-insurance of only 10 percent  to alleviate the financial burden on Emiratis and provide a wide range of distinguished and quick medical services.

At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed, along with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, posed for photographs with the team of the 'Saada Health Insurance Programme.'
