Mohammed leads UAE delegation at GCC summit

UAE Vice-President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the opening session of the 33rd Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, which was kicked off at Sakhir Palace in the Bahraini Capital of Manama.

The opening session of the two-day summit was presided over by King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

Before the opening session, Sheikh Mohammed had met with GCC leaders at the Grand Convention Hall at Al-Sakhir Palace, and exchanged with them views about regional issues in addition to topics on the agenda of the summit. They all wished that the summit would achieve the aspirations of the Gulf States and peoples. 

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, arrived in Manama on Monday, leading the UAE's delegation to the 33rd GCC summit in Bahrain scheduled to begin later in the day.

King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain led a group of top civilian and military officials including Bahrain's Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to welcome Sheikh Mohammed upon arrival.

At Manama Airport's Royal Protocol Lounge, King Hamad and Sheikh Mohammed had Arabic coffee and exchanged cordial talks about latest regional developments and agenda of the Manama summit.

The delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed includes Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, the Director of Dubai Ruler's Office, Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of Dubai Protocol and Guesthouse Department, and the UAE's Ambassador in Manama, Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi.

Mohammed receives Qatar's Crown Prince

Sheikh Mohammed received in Manama on Monday Qatar's Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is leading his country's delegation to the 33rd GCC summit in Bahrain.

The meeting, which was attended by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, reviewed agenda of the summit.

Members of Emirati and Qatari delegations to the summit attended the audience.
