Mohammed meets Bangladeshi and Malaysian Prime Ministers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday, received Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammed Najib and discussed with him a variety of topics concerning regional and international peace and stability and ways to achieve sustainable development in the Islamic World.

Sheikh Mohammed and Najib discussed the significance of the 10th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), which will convene in Dubai from October 28-30, 2014.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the meeting.

The Malaysian prime minister expressed his delight at participating in the two-day forum on top of a high-profile Malaysian delegation, and praised the constructive role of the UAE, in general, and Dubai, in particular, in building the global Islamic economy.

He also lauded Sheikh Mohammed's vision of making Dubai the 'Capital of Islamic Economy'.

Present at the meeting were Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and Chairman of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, Hamad Bumim, Director-General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahmed Anwar bin Adnan, Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE, and members of the delegation accompanying the Malaysian prime minister.

Receives Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday received Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, and her accompanying delegation at Zabeel Palace.

Sheikh Mohammed and the Bangladeshi Prime Minister reviewed overall relations between the UAE and Bangladesh, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation, especially in the economic field, in an effort to build a viable investment partnership between the two nations.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of strengthening activities in the private sector between the two countries and allowing them to set up investment partnerships that benefit both countries in achieving common interests.

Signing of agreements

Sheikh Mohammed and visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday attended the signing ceremony of a number of agreements between the UAE and Bangladesh, following their meeting at the Zabeel Palace.

Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and Asaduzzaman Noor Bangladeshi State Minister of Home Affairs, signed an agreement on security cooperation between the UAE and Bangladesh, and another on the transfer of sentenced persons (TSP).

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, and Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Bangladeshi Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed an agreement on the allotment of a plot in the diplomatic neighbourhood in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, for the construction of the building of the UAE Embassy.

Sheikh Mohammed gave his blessings for the agreements and expressed his hope that they would constitute a favourable and good start for the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He also reaffirmed that the leaders, people and government of the UAE welcome constructive cooperation and friendship in various spheres with all countries.

During their meeting earlier on Monday at the Zabeel Palace, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hasina reviewed the overall relations between the UAE and Bangladesh, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation, especially in the economic field, in an effort to build a viable investment partnerships between the two nations.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; Mariam bint Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs; and Head of the honourary mission accompanying the visiting Bangladeshi prime minister, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shibani, Director of the Court of Dubai Ruler, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and Saeed bin Hajar Al Shehhi, Ambassador of the UAE to Bangladesh.
