Mohammed meets Emirati, Arab media elite

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met on Wednesday afternoon at the Emirates Towers in Dubai an elite of Emirati and Arab journalists participating in the second edition of the UAE Media Forum, and a group of Arab journalists visiting the country at the invitation of the National Media Council (NMC) on the occasion of the UAE's 43rd National Day celebrations.

Sheikh Mohammed shook hands with them, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, and welcomed the local and Arab media and journalists representatives, wishing their forum success.

During a meeting with Emirati, expatriate and guest journalists, Sheikh Mohammed exchanged views about the importance of organising and holding such forums and conferences to ensure sharing of experience between the UAE journalists and their Arabs colleagues. Such events help upgrade professionals to world-class levels, benefit from new technologies developed by the UAE government in the service of media and journalists. They also help develop innovation and creativity in this vital sector.

The media has become the nation's mouthpiece and a mirror that reflects, through image and sincere word, the achievements of any nation, whether Arab or foreign country, and their culture and traditions.

Sheikh Mohammed commended the idea of organising this forum, which is being supervised by the Dubai Press Club to ensure the success of this event. A number of national institutions and bodies are sponsoring the event.

The meeting was attended Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Ibrahim Al Abed, Director-General of the National Media Council (NMC), Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai and Mona Al Marri, Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office and chairperson of the Dubai Press Club, along with a number of national and Arab media and journalistic leaders.

UAQ Ruler names street after Mohammed bin Rashid 

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has ordered naming Al Wasl Street after , His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
 
Al Wasl Street is located between Etihad and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Street. The street serves traffic movement near the federal departments' buildings in the emirate. It also passes through residences of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Area, constructed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment.
 
In his remarks to the Emirates News Agency (Wam), the UAQ Ruler said that naming the street after Sheikh Mohammed coincides with the celebrations of the UAE's 43rd National Day and to pay tribute to his role as a successful leader, who contributed a lot under the umbrella of the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
 
He also added that Sheikh Mohammed has launched a number of initiatives, which contributed towards positioning the country at the first rank globally.
