Mohammed opens Dubai Cable HV factory

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Duba, opened Ducab-HV Plant in Jebel Ali Industrial Zone on Tuesday.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Economy Minister Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri; Director of Dubai Ruler's Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shebani; Director of Sheikh Mohammed’s Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dewa, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer; other dignitaries, heads of various government departments and senior officials.
 
Following a rendition of the national anthem, Ducab Chairman Ahmad bin Hassan Al Sheikh, delivered a speech in which he said that high tension cables’ plant is the result of a joint-venture between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea). He pointed out to the directives of the UAE leadership to build a national industrial base which will be one of the main pillars of the UAE national economy.
 
After watching a documentary and reviewing a panorama about the various development stages of Ducab since its inception in 1979, Sheikh Mohammed toured the different sections of the factory where he reviewed the factory’s lab which is the first and the only such lab in the Gulf and the Middle East. He also inspected models for various products.
 
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by the chairman of Dubai Cable Company (Ducab) and other national engineers about the company’s sale growth which jumped from Dh286 million in 1997 to an anticipated Dh5 billion in 2011.
 
Sheikh Mohammed praised the efforts of the officials overseeing the project, describing the giant national project as a new addition to the existing and future national industrial projects. He stressed that the national industry is one of the key tributaries of our national economy, which we, as leaders, seek to diversify its sources to guarantee a good future for our promising generations and create job opportunities to our young graduates.

Mohammed to give lecture on “Spirit of the Union”

Sheikh Mohammed will meet with a multitude of academics, university professors and students, researchers, experts as well as an elite group of thinkers and cultural personalities in Dubai on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Government of Dubai Media Office, Sheikh Mohammed will deliver a lecture on the theme “Spirit of the Union”, the watchword that marks the 40th anniversary of UAE National Day.

Sheikh Mohammed will shed light on the country's epic march into progress, which he witnessed over the past decades, thus giving the young generation the lessons that will sustain them on the path of development.

Mohammed receives GCC Attorneys General, Public Prosecutors

The Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday received the Attorney Generals and Prosecutor Generals of the member states in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
 
The meeting, which was held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, saw the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
 
The Attorney Generals and Prosecutor Generals are holding their 5th meeting in Abu Dhabi to discuss further cooperation among the member countries in the related area.
 
Welcoming the guests and wishing them success in their two-day meeting, Sheikh Mohammed said that such meetings enhance cooperation and coordination among GCC member states. He stressed that joint efforts always bring more success and help achieve the goals. Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the meeting’s agenda.
 
The meeting was also attended by Justice Minister Dr Hadef bin Jouan Al Dhaheri, UAE Attorney General Salem Saeed Kubaish and Director of Sheikh Mohammed’s Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan.
