His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 625 prisoners, on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Sheikh Mohammed's pardon covers inmates in penal and correctional institutions in Dubai who have so far served different jail terms.

Sheikh Mohammed also instructed the Attorney General of Dubai Essam Eisa Al Humaidan to implement the orders.

Al Humaidan said Dubai Public Prosecution and Dubai Police have already started the procedures for the immediate release of the pardoned inmates. He emphasised that they will re-unite with their families in the UAE or abroad on the first day of Ramadan.

He also thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his kind initiatives and said they target all people regardless of their nationality, colour or race.

Al Humaidan further emphasised that the generous directives by Sheikh Mohammed on taking care of human rights and dignity further promote tolerance in the UAE society which upholds authentic Arab and Islamic values and ethics.
