His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday commended the concerted efforts of both the emirate’s public and private sectors that led to the success of the  ‘Dubai 24 hours’ initiative during the Eid Al Adha celebrations which has attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists and visitors to the shopping centres and aroused regional and global media interest.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the positive spirit of the retail sector and shopping malls in participating in the ‘Dubai 24 hours’ promotional campaign, not only by their rapid response but also through the activities launched by these shopping centres to support the campaign, both in terms of additional events during the late hours of the night or through promotions and discount offers after midnight, all of which contributed to the success of the campaign.

Sheikh Mohammed also pointed out that the unique harmony between the leading institutions in the private sector and the vision and directions of the Government of Dubai is one of the most important reasons for Dubai’s success.

He also stressed that it is not unusual for the private sector to provide full support to the initiatives of the Government of Dubai over the past years, adding that the well-established cooperation between the Dubai government bodies and the private sector is always aimed at promoting the interests of the emirate.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) Mohammed Al Abbar praised the great enthusiasm shown by retailers and shopping malls in Dubai to participate in the campaign, adding that the implementation of  ‘Dubai 24 hours’ shopping  called for much effort and exceptional procedures, both at the many government departments and shopping centres  as well as the retail sector. “Nothing is impossible for Dubai thanks to the vision of Sheikh Mohammed,” he added.

‘Dubai 24 hours’ shopping  is expected to reach its peak of success during the Eid Al Adha holidays, especially with the expected influx of large numbers of Gulf families to Dubai.
