Mohammed promotes GDRFA officers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered promotion of 465 commissioned officers, non-commissioned officer and other personnel of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), Dubai, one rank up.

Head of the Diretorate, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed for the gesture.

He also thanked President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for taking great interest in the youth and Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, for supporting the staff of the ministry.

Al Marri urged the promoted personnel to seek excellence and achieve the highest customer satisfaction rates.

Mohammed meets Emirati academicians and scientists

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, met this evening at Zabeel Palace with a group of Emirati scientists, academicians and holders of post-graduate degrees who work at the national institutions.

During the meeting, attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed exchanged Ramadan greetings with the guests and engaged in conversations with them about their areas of specialization and expertise and the future plans for their services.

The guests expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They also thanked Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their continuous support to the education of citizens inside and outside the country.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the dedication and loyalty of the youth, saying that the wise leadership has spared no effort in supporting their development and specilaization in all fields such as teaching, medicine, energy, technology, sports, culture, space, armed forces, police, etc.

"We in the UAE possess potentials and talents who are capable of making difference and utilising the facilities to help create a bright future for our country," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed further said that the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, views the qualified and skilled citizens as the country's real wealth.

He expressed his pleasure at the success of the 'Reading Nation' campaign which exceeded its target of providing 5 million books, into 7 million books.

"This success translates our nation's interest in reading and not relying on computer, which is a man-mad machine. He also spoke about the Dubai EXPO 2020's new logo, which is inspired by a 3,600 year-old piece of jewellery found at ‘Saroug Al Hadeed’, an ancient archeological site.

"Any structure cannot rise without pillars. You are the pillar. Any horse cannot win the race without the rider, you are the riders. You should always stand up when standing up is difficult," Sheikh Mohammed said.

The meeting was attended by Sara Al Amiri, Chairperson of the UAE Council of Scientists.

Following the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed hosted an Iftar banquet.
