Mohammed receives Al Zayani

Sheikh Mohammed meets Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani. (Wam)

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was informed by the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, about the arrangements for the GCC leaders' summit which the Saudi capital, Riyadh, will host on December 9 and 10, 2015.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the meeting.

Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on the agenda of the summit which will deal with political, economic and security topics in the light of the current developments in the region and the accelerating tempo of the GCC joint action.



Dr. Al Zayani, during his presentation to Sheikh Mohammed, valued the sacrifices made by the valiant UAE Armed Forces' servicemen, who wrote chapters of sacrifice, heroism and glory while performing their national duty as part of the Arab Coalition forces in Yemen.


Sheikh Mohammed praised the role played by Dr. Al Zayani in advancing the GCC joint action, and highlighted the progressive level of co-operation and coordination among the GCC member states regarding the latest developments in the region and the world, particularly joint economic cooperation and inter-GCC investment and economic partnerships, especially in the private sector.

Sheikh Mohammed also spoke about the security coordination, which he said, had begun to pay off in further enhancing stability, security and peace in the region, which, in turn, maintains economic stability and a stable life for the GCC citizens, who are the focus of the attention of GCC leaders' periodic summits and meetings.

Highlighting the GCC march, Sheikh Mohammed noted the leading role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in bolstering fraternal ties among the GCC member states and their peoples.

He also lauded the able leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who steered the GCC drive towards more progress and glory and towards preserving national, civilisational and humanitarian gains for the GCC and advancing them as key enablers to deliver welfare, economic prosperity, social stability and security for our peoples.

His Highness re-emphasised the UAE's determination to take the GCC drive forward until the GCC leaders' vision is achieved.

In attendance also were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Dubai Protocol Department.
