Mohammed tours Dubai Media Inc.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Dubai Media Inc. state-of-the-art news centre at the Dubai Media City on Tuesday.

Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed on his visit were Dubai Deputy Ruler and Chairman of Dubai Media Inc. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan and Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman.

Sheikh Mohammed and the accompanying delegation were received by the Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office and Managing Director of Dubai Media Inc. Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh in addition to directors of DMI's television and radio channels and senior staff.

Beginning his tour, Sheikh Mohammed listened to a briefing highlighting the strategic plan to develop DMI capabilities, hardware and management as per the best internationally-recognised standards.

In his presentation, DMI Managing Director Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh shed light on the various projects launched by DMI in addition to the entity's financial progress. Al Shaikh underlined a series of measures taken by DMI to maintain its leading edge over competitors such as revamping studio infrastructure and acquiring High Definition (HD) broadcast vehicles.

Al Shaikh also highlighted the important role DMI plays as a national institution that embraces Emirati talent by providing necessary technical training for Emirati college and university students to create a professional innovation-driven generation. Al Shaikh also emphasised positive effect of creating and maintaining a best-in-class work environment on the efficiency and productivity of employees.

Highlighting some of DMI's achievements, Al Bayan, Emarat Al Youm and 'Emirates24|7' won the printing quality award of the International Newspaper Color Quality Club of Ifra and managed to broadcast live 1,747 events in 2011 and 2012.

DMI strategy goals include moving to a full HD satellite broadcast by DMI's TV channels, restructuring transmission rooms to adopt tapeless technology and superior electronic archiving, extending satellite broadcast to cover the six world continents in addition to creating an advanced emergency transmission infrastructure.

Al Shaikh also said that DMI headquarters at Dubai Media City will move to Dubai Studio City which boasts one of the most advanced media infrastructure in the world.

Continuing his tour, Sheikh Mohammed pressed the button inaugurating the DMI News Centre-Studio C at Dubai Media City which is considered the biggest and most advanced HD/3G studio in the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction with the progress of Dubai Media Inc., stressing his full support to this important national institution which presents to the world the unique Emirati culture, the development march of the UAE and the success story of a nation.

Aligning DMI's targets with that of the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 was a key point Sheikh Mohammed emphasised on as he urged DMI personnel to yield more innovation and create a unique mark in the field of media. His Highness congratulated DMI Managing Director Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh and DMI staff for the tremendous efforts and achievements.

For his part, Al Shaikh thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his continuous support for Dubai Media Incorporated adding that such support of but a catalyst for yet more advancement and innovation; an important aspect to maintain a leading and unique Emirati mark in the field of media.

Mohammed attends Iftar banquet

Sheikh Mohammed also attended an Iftar banquet hosted by Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman at his residence in Zabeel on Tuesday.

The banquet was also attended by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
