Mohammed unveils official UAE Government channel on YouTube

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday launched the official UAE Government YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/uaegov and affirmed that the federal government is determined to make its services available to all through the easiest and fastest possible ways.

"We want to take our services to people before they come to us. We want to shorten distances and save time in regards to the needs of nationals and expatriates, on the one hand, and what we offer them, on the other," Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said as he chaired the cabinet meeting in presence of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Affirming that the new Youtube channel will play an important role in enabling people to access and use government services easily, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said it will represent a reference for us with regards to increasing the efficiency of government services and giving nationals and expatriates easy access to them."

"We harness social networks to make people happier, develop government work and utilise all that modern technology and means of communication in order to benefit and serve the interests of the country and all those living in it," said Sheikh Mohammed.

The initiative of launching UAE Government Youtube Channel - the first official platform of its kind on the video-sharing website to offer explanation of the services offered by the UAE federal government to nationals and expatriates - underlines the wise leadership's efforts to employ state-of-the-art communication technologies for government work.

The channel will be an exclusive official source of news on the federal government to keep its audience updated through news reports, press briefings and conferences as well as preparations for the launch of the government's programmes.

UAE Government Youtube Channel offers a diverse and rich content focusing on the services of federal ministries and entities in addition to disseminating a variety of news on the activities of the federal cabinet.

The several sections of the channel will be highlighting government services, illustrating procedures of government services using infographic, in addition to introducing the general public to the personal lives of the federal government officials and shedding light on the backstage of government work during the implementation of projects.

Other sections focus on the initiatives and awareness campaigns of ministries and federal departments, highlight achievements and Emirati success stories, as well as lectures and panel discussions by government teams.

UAE Cabinet approves several agreements

The Cabinet on Monday, at a meeting chaired His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, approved a number a number of agreements between UAE and other countries.

These agreements, aimed at enhancing UAE's international cooperation and serving UAE's interests, are:

Two agreements with Serbia and Montenegro on the reciprocal exemption of holders of special and diplomatic passports from entry visa; an agreement with Lithuania on the avoidance of double taxation on income and on tax evasion; an agreement with Afghanistan on security cooperation; three agreements with Russia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka on extradition, legal and judicial assistance.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of UAE embassies in Cuba, Angola and Mozambique, as well as a general consulate in Toronto, Canada.

The Cabinet also approved a draft law on combating animal communicable diseases as part of its efforts to protect public health and safety and food security.

The law on animal communicable diseases regulates the procedures of monitoring, epidemic investigation, reporting diseases and preventive measures against communicable and epidemics.

The Cabinet also approved the reshuffling of the board of directors of National Transport Authority (NTA) which will be chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works.

The members of the board of NTA are Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Transport Department and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Yousuf Saleh Al Suwaiji, Director General of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), Mohammed Salim Al Zahmi, Director of the Office of Fujairah Crown Prince, Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Acting Director-General of Federal Customs Authority (FCA), Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, and a representative of the Public Works Ministry.

Cabinet congratulates Egyptian people on El Sisi's presidency

The UAE Cabinet ton Monday congratulated the people of Egypt and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the occasion of his swearing-in as Egypt's new leader, and re-affirmed that UAE continues to work on promoting the deep and historical relations between the two brotherly peoples of UAE and Egypt, and expressed its wishes for stability and prosperity for the people of Egypt. The Cabinet also commended this progress made by the Egyptian people towards further consolidation of the foundations for constitutional legitimacy and the building the state of law in their country.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Ministerof the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who chaired the Cabinet meeting on Monday at the Presidential Palace, expressed his delight at the historical event and expressed his hopes that the presidency of Abdel Fattah El Sisi will usher in a new era of stability, security and prosperity for Egypt and its people.

"The presidency of Abdel Fattah El Sisi supports the stability of Egypt and the Arab region. We will extend all help and assistance to Egypt's leadership in the coming period in order to help fulfill the hopes of Egyptian people," Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, underlining the pivotal stature of Egypt in the Arab region and the need for Egypt to restore its role as a leading Arab state in the region.

"The founding father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, taught us the importance of Egypt and its pivotal role, and that the glory, prosperity and security of Arabs relies heavily on Egypt's glory, prosperity and security."

Cabinet welcomes UAE-Saudi Joint Higher Committee

The UAE Cabinet on Monday at its meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, expressed its pride in the establishment of the UAE-Saudi Joint Higher Committee and welcomed the development of these relations into new strategic avenues to order to contribute to the strengthening of the common interests of both countries and their peoples.

The Cabinet expressed its full confidence that the establishment of the joint committee, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflects a bright aspect of bilateral cooperation between the countries of this region, and represents an effective mechanism for implementing all efforts to enhance the fruitful cooperation and historic partnership between UAE and Saudi Arabia, and bolster the security, stability and prosperity of the region and its peoples.

This came after Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, viewed the outcome of the recent meeting between General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, and a Saudi delegation led by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Cabinet also viewed the message of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
