President orders 3-day mourning on death of Rashid bin Mohammed

The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who passed away Saturday morning.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa expressed his heartfelt condolences and solace to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, praying to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in Paradise, and bestow patience and solace to Al Maktoum.

The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered a three-day official mourning following the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Flags will remain at half-mast during the three-day mourning period.

Dubai Ruler's Court has mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who died of heart attack today morning.

The burial of late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will take place at Umm Hurair cemetery in Bur Dubai Saturday evening, following funeral prayers at the Zabeel Mosque. "May Almighty Allah rest his soul in paradise."

A three-day mourning period has been declared in Dubai. UAE flags will be flown half-mast during the mourning period.

Minister Al Gargawi said the late Sheikh Rashid, had a very strong personality but, like all the other members of Al Maktoum family, he was humble, and inherited high ambitions from his grandfather, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed, and a passion for sports and horses from his father.

Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Chairman of the NOC Executive Office, expressed his profound sorrow at the death of Sheikh Rashid, saying he was a noble rider who had many achievements for the UAE. The minister offered his sincere condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the soul of the deceased in eternal peace, and bestow patience and solace on his family and relatives.
