The RTA Licensing Agency has completed the second stage of linking drivers and vehicles licensing services with the federal traffic system.

The linking covers seven services, namely, transferring vehicles within the UAE, exporting vehicles abroad, writing off/owning vehicles, issuing driving licence in lieu of lost or damaged one, modifying the details of a vehicle, and renewing the retention of number plates, according to Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency.

"From now on, RTA customers can process their transactions in other emirates and vice versa; which will save the time and effort customers needed to go to another emirate that issued the driving licence or vehicle ownership card.

This stage complements the initial stage which was dedicated to renewal of vehicle registration and driving licences; which has been accomplished. According to statistics of the Licensing Agency, about 10,000 transactions have been processed since the link with the federal traffic system was established in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior.

"The drivers and vehicles licensing system in the emirate of Dubai has seen a quality shift over the last two years as illustrated by the launch of multiple initiatives as well as upgrading and diversifying the channels delivering RTA services to customers, highlighted by e-services offerings,” said Bahrozyan.

"The project also helped in recovering RTA's fines on vehicles registered in other emirates and also enabled other emirates to recover their due fines on RTA-licensed vehicles involved in offences committed in other emirates. The project also enabled the collections of fines due to the police, alleviated congestion at customer service centres, and achieved integration and co-ordination between various UAE licensing entities," he said.
