RTA signs a contract with Al Futtaim placing an order for 543 new Camry Taxis (SUPPLIED)
The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will soon add 543 new taxis to their fleet.
The RTA has signed a contract with its soul distributor Al Futtaim Motors placing an order for 543 Toyota Camry cars in order to beef up the taxi fleet.
The two have been in joint cooperation for 15 years.
The decision was taken after observing the recent improvements in the 2012 models which is fuel efficient.
Currently 3504 vehicles are deployed all of which have been supplied by Al-Futtaim. Toyota vehicles account for a large share amounting to 1997 taxis.
The memorandum was signed by Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency & Head of the Committee overseeing the Dubai Taxi Corporation; and Mr. Simon Frith, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Motors.
