Saif bin Zayed reviews prestigious award granted by Arab Interior Ministers

Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reviewed the prestigious award awarded to the United Arab Emirates by the Council of the Arab Interior Ministers, in recognition of the efforts exerted by of the Ministry of Interior; represented by the Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General, to reinforce regional and international cooperation in the fight against drugs, which led to the arrest of drugs trafficking networks.

Sheikh Saif received on Wednesday the award for  "the Best Information and Intelligence Operational Field Cooperation  at the Arab, regional and international levels", from Colonel Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director General, Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General at the Ministry of Interior at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.  He praised the efforts of the team in making this achievement, and urging members to pursue further excellence.

Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, presented a shield and a certificate of appreciation to the UAE Ministry of Interior, as a tribute from the Secretariat General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, during the 29th conference of heads of Arab anti-narcotics agencies, which was recently held in Tunisia.

Colonel Al Suwaidi said that this award complements the efforts exerted to raise high the name and flag of the United Arab Emirates in regional, Arab and international forums.

He also valued the support of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and his unrelenting keenness to follow-up on the dedicated efforts made by members of the anti-narcotics team at the Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General at the Ministry to combat drugs traffickers, peddlers and promoters.

Colonel Al Suwaidi also praised the field work competency of the anti-narcotics team at the Ministry of Interior and their high efficiency in dealing firmly and according to legal procedures, with anyone who even thinks to disrupt the security or the stability of the UAE; so as to attain the coveted aspirations envisioned by the country.

Colonel Al Suwaidi also explained that the Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General has managed, in cooperation with units from the different police general headquarters across the country and in coordination with a number of the regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon and Egypt, to carry out its operations in a professional way. These operations received significant attention and close follow-up from the UAE police leadership, particularly the joint operation code-named "wooden doors".

In conclusion, Colonel Al Suwaidi noted that regional and international cooperation in the fight against drugs is the best way to foil the plans of drugs traffickers and dealers, which is evident in the practical and field operations that are carried out. "The anti-narcotics agencies across the UAE will be always be at the forefront of efforts in this field," he said.
