Sharjah to set up fishing equipment storehouses

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the building of storehouses for fishermen's equipment  and housing units for workers.

Sheikh Sultan announced his orders in a phone call with the Sharjah Radio Station.

Affirming his support to them in times of crisis, Sheikh Sultan urged fishermen always keep the market well-supplied with their catches.

He also revealed plans to build the Resistance Monument in honor of the people of Khor Fakkan who resisted the Portuguese colonisation led by 16th-century Portuguese general Afonso de Albuquerque. Paintings depicting the Portuguese fleet which then struck the town and the resisting locals will be put on display, as part of the project.
