Sheikh Mohammed attends AIM opening

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has attended the opening of the 3rd session of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) which is organized by the Ministry of Economy at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 30 - May 2, 2013.

Around 5,000 ministers, investors and businessmen from the United Arab Emirates and 80 Arab and foreign countries are participating in the Forum.

The opening session was attended by Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, the Director of the Office of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, the Director General of Protocols and Guesthouse Department along with a crowd of renowned figures in the business sectors in the UAE and from the countries of the region and the world.

Speaking at the opening session, UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, explained the objectives of the forum and briefed the audience about the results achieved during the previous two editions, pointing out the ingredients and capabilities available to investors in the UAE. Al Mansouri added that foreign direct investment is a driving force of paramount importance in the globalisation process, which has become one of the features of the modern global economy.

Director General of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai Sami Dhaen Qamzi explained the evolution in the emirate in terms of volume of foreign direct investment Dubai attracted in 2012 and valued at more than Dh29 billion with an increase of 26 per cent from 2011 records. He stressed the continuity of Dubai as a magnet for investment and its ability to provide excellent logistics services and provide the elements of success and durability to all foreign investments.

Following the session, Sheikh Mohammed visited the real estate exhibition held on the sideline of the forum in which 220 companies from the UAE and other countries participating in the Investment Forum showcase their latest in the real estate field. He familiarised himself with the capabilities of these companies and the investment opportunities they have in the field of real estate.

The Annual Investment Meeting is a global emerging market-led FDI conference and investment trade fair.

Mohammed bin Rashid offers condolence on Al Dhahiri's death

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today offered condolences on the death of Jowan Salim Al Dhahiri.

Sheikh Mohammed, at Al Dhaheri's house, expressed heartfelt sympathy with his sons and relatives and prayed Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and to bestow patience on his family.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, the Director of the Office of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, the Director General Of Protocol Department.

'Dubai Equestrian Club' board formed

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued Resolution No 5 of 2013 pertaining to the formation of the board of Dubai Equestrian Club.

Sheikh Mohammed has issued Decree No. 13 of 2013 amending some provisions of Decree No. 1 of 2006, regarding the establishment of a public institution under the name Dubai Horse Racing Club.

According to the resolution, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of Sheikh Mohammed, will chair the Dubai Equestrian Club board which will include Saeed bin Humaid Mattar Al Tayer as Deputy Chair and membership of Mulaih Lahej Al Busti and Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdel Aziz.

The resolution shall go into force from the date of issuance and shall be published in the official gazette.

The decree also amended Articles 2 and 6 of Decree No. 1 of 2006 to keep pace with the significant development Dubai is witnessing in horse racing and equestrian sports and to cater for the growing interest in this sport locally and internationally and the increasing number of horse owners.

According to the new amendments, the club's new missions will included setting standards and regulations for licensing equestrian facilities in the emirate, such as stables for tourism, setting specifications and rules to license horse transport vehicles in Dubai in coordination with the concerned authorities.

The new decree gives the club's board the authority to issue regulations, decisions and instructions necessary to implement the provisions of the decree.

The decree shall go into force from the date of issuance and shall be published in the official gazette.
