Sheikh Mohammed inspects readiness of schools

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai made a field tour to a number of government schools in Dubai and Sharjah Wednesday, the first day of the academic year, to inspect the readiness of these schools for receiving students for the academic year 2010/2011.

Sheikh Mohammed began his tour with a visit al Nukhba Model School in Dubai, where he attended the morning assembly and listened to the school’s morning programme.

He was briefed by the school’s principal Khawla Al Abdooli on the procedures taken on the first school day.

Sheikh Mohammed thanked the principal and the teaching staff for their efforts and urged them to work harder to contribute to the development of the educational process.

At Al Marqiyah Boys School for Basic Education in Sharjah, where he was warmly welcomed by the school’s principal Fatima Ghanim and the teaching staff, Sheikh Mohammed inspected a number of classrooms and the school’s facilities.
 
He ordered that additional facilities be built in the school. He also directed the Education Minister Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami to meet the school's needs and to provide them with all necessary support and modern equipment.

Sheikh Mohammed’s third stop was at Maryam School for Basic Education in Sharjah, where he inspected the various facilities of the school and met with the school’s principal Aisha Al Hameli and the school teachers. At the morning assembly one of the teachers delivered a poem in honour of Sheikh Mohammed.

Concluding the tour, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his cabinet’s keenness to provide all needed educational requirements to promote and advance the education system in the country.

General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Mohammed Juma Al Nabooda, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, other several sheikhs and senior officials accompanied Sheikh Mohammed in his tour.

Pensions authority

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a cabinet decision No.11 for 2010 on the  structure of the General Pensions and Social Security Authority (GPSSA).

According to the structure, the authority implements the rules of pensions and retirement benefits for civilians in accordance with the provisions of federal laws passed concerning pensions and social insurance.

As per the structure, GCC citizens will be entitled to insurance protection when working outside their countries, and in some cases they may be allowed the exchange insurance benefits for pension funds in the country of their residence, and any reference shall be vested in the Authority under other laws, regulations and resolutions in force in the country.

The structure also defines the specialisations of the board of directors, chairman of the board and the GPSSA's departments and committees, pointing out that the board is the supreme authority and is sanctioned with handling the affairs of the Authority and achieving its objectives.

The new structure also abrogates any provision contrary to or inconsistent with its provisions.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued Decision No. 16 of 2010 concerning the organisational structure of The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MSFNCA).

The new structure consists of the MSFNCA’s Minister, the Office of the Minister, the minister's advisers and the Office of Internal Audit, the Department of strategic planning and performance and government liaison
