Tourism and culture are two faces of one coin: Mohammed bin Rashid

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has described the 20th Arab Travel Market (ATM) as a spectacular cultural extravaganza.

He said that he was satisfied with the diverse cultural gathering Dubai is hosting for four days at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

''Tourism and culture are two faces of one coin... culture represents one of key pillars of tourism in any country. When the tourist first sets his foot in a country, the most things he eagerly wants to know is its heritage, culture, history and its archaeological landmarks from museums, arts, folklore and cuisine..etc. This is what makes us adhere to our culture and cultural identity ... .to preserve and promote their authenticity and assets within the UAE and abroad,'' Sheikh Mohammed said while undertaking a tour of the ATM. The 4-day show features 2,500 exhibitors from over 80 states.

During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed familiarised himself with potentials and resources the participating countries have for building a vibrant infrastructure for tourism industry and attracting investment into the vital sector.

Sheikh Mohammed's tour also took him to a number of UAE exhibitors including the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Expo 2020 and Dubai Police.

He was accompanied by Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, State Minister, and a number of top officials.

The Vice-President stopped at Dubai Expo 2020 stand where he was briefed by Reem Al Hashemi, Managing Director of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai, on the world class facilities including hotels, exhibiting halls, parking, and other support and logistic services at the venue of the event in case Dubai wins the bid.

Sheikh Mohammed lauded the Committee's efforts, stressing that all government human, logistic and financial resources would be deployed to promote the UAE bid for hosting the world's largest cultural, economic and tourist event.

Mohammed receives Saudi Prince

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid received at Za'beel Palace today Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiques (SCTA).

In attendance at the meeting were Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group and more than 20 Arab and foreign Ministers of Tourism participating in The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai and the joint forum, held today on the sidelines of the ATM.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the ministers and officials, stressing the importance of tourism and the tourist industry sector in Arab countries and developing countries in particular, since the sector constitutes a main source of national income for a number of countries and peoples.

The UAE Vice President hosted a lunch banquet for the guests.

Among those who attended the banquet were Mohammed Ahmed Al-Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a number of Sheikhs, dignitaries, Ministers, Directors of Government Departments, and other economic figures in the country.

Mohammed orders allocation of 52 houses to Emiratis

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered allocation of 52 houses completed in Al Barsha 1 - South for low-income Emirati nationals, widows and divorcees registered for the second phase of the 228-residential-unit project at Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment.

CEO of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) Sami Gargash noted that Sheikh Mohammed’s generosity only reflects his keenness to guarantee the well-being of Emirati nationals by meeting their appropriate housing needs, an approach that goes in conformity with his vision to places human beings foremost among his priorities.

Gargash also affirmed the MBRHE’s dedication and commitment to swiftly carry out His Highness’s order to implement the projects so as to solve the problems of many Emiratis in this regards.

Al Barsha 1 - South residential project consists of 1,240 residential units divided into six areas. Phase I of the project allocates 206 houses for Emiratis at a total cost of Dh237 million at an area of 26.37 hectare; whereas Phase II of the project will allocate 228 houses at a total cost of Dh272 million occupying an area of 29.23 hectare.
