In implementation of the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to declare November 30 of each year as Commemoration Day, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs has decided that the UAE flag will be flown at half-mast in all government departments and institutions across the country on November 30 from 8am until 11.30am.

The UAE marks November 30 every year in memory of and in tribute to the sacrifices made by the nation's martyrs and its loyal people, who offered their lives so as to keep the UAE flag flying high while they were performing their national duties within and outside the country, in civilian, military and humanitarian fields.

Call for moment of silent prayer to remember Emirati martyrs

The Martyrs' Families' Affairs Office (MFAO) at the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince has called nationals and expatriates in the UAE to observe a moment of silence and prayer at 11.30am local time on November 30, 2015 to honour martyrs and express solidarity with their families.

The moment of silent prayer will be among a feature activity on November 30, proclaimed Martyrs’ Day and a national holiday, the office said.

Participation in the activity is open to all people anywhere, including federal and local government institutions, businesses, houses and shopping malls.

At 8.30 am, the UAE flag will be flown half-mast across the country until 11.30 am, then the silent prayers will be observed and the UAE flag will be at full mast while the national anthem is played.

The office urged the public to follow the instructions specified for raising and lowering the flag.
