UAE has trust of investors: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday chaired the Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, were present at the meeting.

The cabinet approved the restructuring of the UAE's Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and amended its terms of reference to ensure prompt and speedy settlement of claims brought before the courts of law.

The new composition of the committee accommodates more areas of medical specialisations and also provides for the committee's operational budget. The committee, to be based at the Ministry of Health, will be appraised annually by the General Secretariat of the Cabinet to ensure impartiality in its decisions relating to government and private hospitals.

During today's cabinet meeting, two new comprehensive e-transformation initiatives were launched to upgrade the management of the cabinet functioning. The initiatives are introduced as per directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. The initiatives, named respectively as 'Minister's e-portfolio' and 'Knowledge Centre' will allow the electronic follow-up of major projects of each ministry in the UAE government.

This will provide each minister with a window, through which he can electronically access reports on the implementation of Cabinet decisions in addition to the reports of the Audit Bureau of his respective ministry. It also includes a knowledge centre on the most important reports on the experiences and practices of similar ministries on the global level.

The cabinet also approved in its meeting a number of new standards for commodities in the local markets.

The cabinet also discussed a number of other topics on the agenda and took appropriate decisions.

Mohammed receives Latvian PM

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received the Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The visiting Latvian PM delivered to Sheikh Mohammed a letter from President Andris Berzins of Latvia to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on bilateral relations between the two countries.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed his Latvian counterpart wishing him a pleasant stay in the UAE and a successful visit that will add to the good relations between the two countries.

Dombrovskis expressed his appreciation for the visit which provides an opportunity to take a closer look at the enormous achievements of the UAE in all sectors and boost cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and non-resident Latvian Ambassador to the UAE.

Mohammed inaugurates Rixos the Palm Dubai luxury hotel

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated on Saturday, Rixos The Palm Dubai, which is the first edition of Rixos Hotels investments in the UAE.

After ribbon cutting ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation witnessed the spectacular celebrations, and stunning firework displays that lit up the night skies. He then toured the hotel and the health, services and entertainment facilities.

The hotel consists of 233 rooms and luxurious suites in addition to 28 apartments. He also toured Turkish Spa and Health Club and a number of luxury suites.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed admiration on the design of the hotel and its distinguished facilities and considered it as an addition to the series of luxurious hotels in the UAE and at Palm Jumeirah in particular which contribute in enhancing tourism sector of the country.

He also congratulated them on implementing this tourist project and welcomed businessmen, international investment companies operating in Dubai and UAE as a regional centre for their investments adding: "This is indicative of the trust on UAE, thanks to its investment laws and regulations and peaceful atmosphere along with excellent logistic facilities that are enjoyed by national companies, individuals and global financial and trade circles."

For his part, Fettah Tamince, Chairman of Rixos Hotels, stated that the inauguration of first Rixos hotel here reflects the importance of UAE's strategic location between Arab World and European countries and a market for deep rooted Arab hospitality in Arabian Gulf and Middle East.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation was also present.
