Plans by a Saudi man to marry again bogged down after his neighbour told his wife that her husband was about to marry one of her relatives in the Gulf Kingdom.

The husband, a resident of the capital Riyadh identified as Abu Faisal, flew to the Southern town of Baha marry the relative of his neighbor and paid nearly SR35,000 (Dh35,000) for jewellery and other wedding items.

The new bride’s father agreed to the marriage after his relatives, who are Abu Faisal’s neighbors in Riyadh, persuaded him to accept him.

“Abu Faisal paid that sum to his new bride and returned to Riyadh after agreeing with her family on the wedding date,” ‘Sada’ newspaper said.

“But Abu Faisal’s neighbour suddenly felt guilty at the last minute.

“She then told his wife Umm Faisal, who made hectic contacts with the help of her neighbor to persuade the new bride’s father to stop the wedding.

“The contacts had a successful result as that father decided to cancel the marriage and Abu Faisal lost SR35,000.”
