The man, a property broker, met the woman when she was looking for an apartment and invited her for iftar (Ramadan evening meal) with him and his wife.

A few days later, she phoned him and said she would like to visit them for suhour (Ramadan dawn meal) and the man told her she was welcome.

The man told court the Moroccan brought food when she came to his house, adding that he and his wife fell asleep after having that dish.

He said that when he and his wife woke up, his 11-year-old daughter told him that the woman had stolen the laptop and three mobile phones.

“The girl told her father that she saw the woman put the items in a black bag…the woman then grabbed the girl’s hair and threatened to slash her throat if she screams.”

Emirat Alyoum daily said the defendant denied such charges, saying the items were given to her by the man as a present. The court adjourned hearings to October 22.
