How to travel to India without passport?

If Indian nationals lose their passports or for some reason do not have access to it, you can still travel back home to India without this valid travel document.

In a message sent out by India’s Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj on twitter, stranded Indian nationals need to contact the Indian embassy if they are left without their passports.

The officials at the embassy will assist and give people in distress the required travel documents to go back home.

The Indian expatriate community is reportedly the largest ethnic community in UAE constituting roughly about 30 per cent of the country’s population, according to the embassy of India in Abu Dhabi.

Though most of the Indians living here are employed, about 10 per cent of the Indian population is the dependent family members.

Both the Indian Embassy and the Consulate in Dubai have a separate wing to cater to the needs of the Indian community.

This wing also attends to issues like repatriation, settlement of labour disputes and taking up issues with the concerned state governments back in India.

According to official data, the UAE hosts more than 2.5 million Indians, the bulk of whom are blue-collar workers.

The stability of their jobs contributes to the welfare of their families back home. The UAE has emerged as India’s second-largest trading partner and by virtue of a sizeable India diaspora an important source of remittances.
