IndiGo Airline, one of the largest Indian budget carriers, will start international services to the UAE destinations from New Delhi and Mumbai and at later stage will link the South Indian destinations and other GCC airports.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Aditya Ghosh,  IndiGo Airline President, said even though six major airlines including Kingfisher, Jet Airways and Indian Airlines operate to these Indian destinations, they are charging “exorbitant” rates from customers and IndiGo will be starting the service with an initial rate of Dh 816 for a return ticket, inclusive of all taxes.

Twenty-five thousand seats will be available at this competitive fare for the two Indian destinations during the next summer travel season.

“Why passengers should be paying exorbitant rates to fly 3 hours to Delhi or Mumbai.  We are not starting a price war, but every dirham counts and with our competitive rate, more people will travel between India and the UAE. Customers should have more options and we will be offering competitive rates and good service in this sector,” said Ghosh Ghosh claimed that IndiGo is consolidating its position in the world aviation market as the fastest growing low cost carrier. IndiGo airline also promises to be operating “on time” and provide “best on time performance. Compared to the Indian carriers notorious for frequent flight delays and cancellations, IndiGo airline promises to be operating all the flights on time, and it has a track record of having the least number of cancellations in the domestic  aviation sector, he added.

“Dubai is a key market for us and launching operations in this market is in line with our growth strategy outlined for the Middle East skies.”
