Infant dies underneath brother's body

SRI LANKA: A two-month old child, who was sharing the same bed with his parents and two elder brothers, had died underneath of a brother’s body after being pressed while asleep at dawn, ‘Gossip C Lanka’ reported.

The victim was a resident of Jayasiripura, Vijayapura in Anuradhapura and still to be named by his parents as he would have completed two months on the following day.

Police believe that as the parents and their two older sons aged 4 and 5 shared the same bed with the victim; he would have been pressed to death to one of the older brothers, who slept beside him.

The victim’s father, who awoke around 5 am the following day to prepare tea for the family, saw the child under his 4-year-old son and had immediately rushed the child, as he was not breathing, to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead.
