The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity has introduced a new category for 2015, which will honour the achievements of students aged between 14 and 18.

The FP7 School Print Competition is aimed specifically at students attending schools in the Mena region.

The competition looks to nurture creativity within schools and create a platform for talented youths to promote their skills and get noticed by some of the industry’s most talented professionals.

Launched this Thursday, the competition requires entrants to create one print ad and one activation or social media idea in response to a brief set out by Smartlife, a not-for-profit, social club.

The inaugural challenge asks students to produce a print or poster campaign which should enable people to empathise with the labourers and their children and persuade them to donate to Smartlife’s Sapna Fund.

“By providing an opportunity for students to realise their aspirations while still in school, this competition acts as a catalyst to propel these talented young individuals to explore and refine their skills early on,” said Emma Farmer, Festival Director of Dubai Lynx.

Speaking on behalf of official sponsor FP7, Sasan Saeidi, Managing Director FP7/DXB said: “We need a passionate and young at heart workforce and we feel schools are the very foundation of this source.”

The competition will remain open until December 11. Submissions which have been shortlisted will be exhibited at the Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity, which will run from March 8 to 10. The awards ceremony will be held on March 11.

Another segment that was introduced is the Grand Prix for Good, which rewards work ineligible to win a Grand Prix in their sections because they are made for charities/not for profit or have charitable or public service messages.

University of the Year Award is also a new honour that will fetch points for the institution of the shortlisted or winning candidates.

The Dubai Lynx awards will honour creative excellence in Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Direct, Promo & Activation, Media, Interactive, Film Craft, Print & Poster Craft, Design, Mobile, PR, Integrated and Branded Content & Entertainment advertising and communications.

Presented by Lions Festivals together with their regional partners, Motivate, the Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity, is held in association with the UAE Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) and with the support of Dubai Media City (DMC).
