If you live in Saudi Arabia, make sure you do not spy on the others’ mobile phones as you could be jailed and lashed in public.

Even those who peer into the mobile phones of their spouses or friends will also have the same punishment.

“Spying on the mobile phones of wives, husbands or friends is a punishable offence in Saudi Arabia…the penalty includes imprisonment or lashing or both…this is up to the judge to decide,” said Mohammed Al Timyat, a legal adviser at the Saudi Ministry of Labour and Social Development.

Quoted by Sada newspaper, he said the offence is classified as a violation of others’ privacy, adding that the plaintiff needs to provide evidence of spying to court.
