An Ethiopian housemaid fled her employer’s house in Saudi Arabia after stealing more than SR90,000.
Medical tests later showed she had tortured his five-month-old boy, leaving him with fractured chest and bleeding in his retina.

The Saudi employer said he had hired the maid for three months to help his wife in the house, adding that the maid had been treated nicely and left to sleep with the baby, Turki, and his 17-month-old brother.

“One day I was away when my wife phoned me and said the maid told her she was leaving the house. I became suspicious as the maid did not ask for her dues,” he said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Sabq.

“I asked my wife to check the money we have in the house but she later told me the maid has left and the money has gone.”
The paper said the maid and her sister were later arrested by police in the capital Riyadh, adding that a few days later Turki was rushed to hospital with bleeding in his eye’s retina, a fractured chest and bruises in the neck and arms.

It said tests showed the maid had tortured the boy, who was admitted to the intensive care unit.
