Malaysian air disaster averted: Plane on fire

Britain's Inmarsat used a wave phenomenon discovered in the nineteenth century to analyse the seven pings its satellite picked up from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 to determine its final destination. The new findings led Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to conclude that the Boeing 777, which disappeared more than two weeks ago, crashed thousands of miles away in the southern Indian Ocean, killing all 239 people on board. Even as Malaysia and the world is still mourning the crash of MH370, another near-miss aviation incident has been reported.

A Malaysian domestic plane had to turn back when its engine caught fire, ‘The Star Online’ reported.

The flight was carrying local football players who were returning home after winning a match.

Thanks to the pilot who acted swiftly and switched off the burning engine, another tragedy was averted, ‘Inquirer.net’ said quoting other reports.

The news went public when one of the players posted a picture of the burning engine on social media pages and said the plane turned back and landed in Subang Airport in Selangor, according to The Star Online.

All passengers onboard the flight are safe.
