A court in Ras Al khaimah acquitted an Emirati man of charges of raping his African housemaid after a witness provided an alibi for him at the time of the alleged crime, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
The unidentified maid had told court her employer raped her at his house, causing her to lose her virginity, Alittihad said.
The paper said the employer, who it did not identify, denied such charges although medical tests showed the woman was not virgin.
“His lawyer then produced a witness who testified in court that he was with the defendant outside Ras Al Khaimah at the time of the alleged rape…the court decided to acquit the defendant,” the paper said.
