Man caught stealing on Sharjah camera claims: That's not me

An Arab man accused of stealing medicine from a pharmacy in Sharjah denied the charges, telling the judge he just looks like the thief caught on camera.

The man was arrested after the chemist reported that he pinched 11 drug boxes from a shelf, as he was busy with getting him a medical belt from the store.

The chemist in the Shahba neighbourhood provided a film caught by security cameras showing the man waited for him to go inside before stealing the drugs.

“I’m not the thief who appeared in the film. He just looks like me,” the defendant told the judge, who adjourned hearings.

Police in the eastern port of Khorfakkan arrested a woman from another Gulf country on charging of possessing drugs, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police set a trap for the woman who was arrested with a piece of hashish hidden in her pocket, Al Khaleej said, without identifying her.
