A Pakistani man who alleged he was detained by his wife moved the sessions court and is now set free, according to a report in ‘Dawn’.

Syed Ali Raza’s brother filed a habeas corpus petition alleging that his younger brother was illegally detained by his employer and that she was not allowing him to leave the ‘workplace’.

However, when a court bailiff raided the house to recover the detainee, the woman said that she was not Ali Raza’s employer, but his wife. She also claimed to be pregnant with his child.

Ali Raza admitted to marrying her seven months back, but he pleaded with the court to be set free has he faced ‘threats from his wife’, who he alleged ‘took him to police station where cops beat him up at her behest’.

He also alleged that his wife does not allow him to meet any of his family members and that he ‘fears for his life’.

The court allowed Ali Raza to go with his family.
