A 19-year-old Saudi man died after he was electrocuted by a power pole while crossing a road filled with sewage water, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The man was in the middle of the road in the Southern Asir province when he touched the power pylon which was surrounded with water, ‘Sada’ said.

“He was electrocuted and died on the spot. Police are investigating the case,” it said, quoting civil defence spokesman Colonel Mohammed Al Assimi.

Monkey electrocuted at Saudi park

Saudi technicians struggling to restore power to a park were surprised to find that the failure was caused by a monkey, which was electrocuted after tempering with cables.

The monkey was found dead in the main power system room at the park in the Southern town of Belgarin after electricity went off for several hours.

The Arabic language daily ‘Alriyadh’ said the monkey had sneaked into the power room from nearby mountains, adding that power was restored later.
