Metro Manila panic: 20 pupils 'possessed' by spirits

About 20 sophomore high school students were allegedly possessed by spirits on, plunging their learning institution into chaos as fear gripped the school, in Metro Manila’s Mandaluyong City. 

“They appeared like they were no longer breathing and the pupil of their eyes could no longer be seen,” Village Chairperson Lilly dela Cruz said as quoted by media reports. “The colour of their lips had turned violet.”

She also stressed that the others looked “overacting” when she went to the school where she witnessed that four people were needed to restrain just one student.

She said the “possessed” students were calmed down at past 11am, two hours after the school was gripped with panic.

She added that parents, who had wrecked the school gates as they tried to get in and collect their children. 

Dela Cruz, who said no one knew how the incident started, said the same case took place at a house in the village about four years ago, but those involved were not students. 

Victim arrests phone snatcher

MANILA An 18-year-old German-Filipino has caught a man who snatched his smartphone on while he was riding on a passenger jeepney in Metro Manila’s Quezon City. 

Joshua Oliver Rappert arrested Michael Vidal, 38, and brought him to Quezon City Police Station 11 after a chase along E Rodriguez Sr Boulevard near the corner of Araneta Avenue, in Barangay Tatalon. 

The victim was not able to recover his Samsung Galaxy S3 worth 27,000 pesos (Dh2,295.16) from the Vidal, however, as the snatcher had already passed this on to his accomplice known only by his alias, ‘Cambo’. 

Police Officer 2 Rodel Tumanday said that Station 11 is preparing to file a robbery snatching case against Vidal while interrogating Cambo further. 

He added that the incident happened at around 4.30pm, June 30, when the passenger jeepney that the victim was riding in stopped on a red signal on the boulevard. Vidal, who was standing on a sidewalk, grabbed Rappert’s phone and ran away.
