According to new research, more and more employees are ready for pay cut, if it means that they will have to put in shorter hours at work.

Daily Mail reports that one in 10 of those who were surveyed, felt so overworked they are ready to take home a smaller pay packet if only they could do fewer hours.

Those employees who feel the most 'overworked', include chief executives, doctors, dentists and senior police officers.

Also keen to work fewer hours are those workers who are in their 50s and 60s. Meanwhile, women reported that they feel 'more overworked than their male counterparts', according to the according to the Office for National Statistics.

However, those who were employed as waiters, cleaners and sales assistants, felt they were 'underemployed'. One in 10 employees belonging to those grades wanted more work to earn extra bucks, says the ONS report.

A shake-up has already been introduced giving every worker in the UK the right to ask for flexible hours, no matter what their circumstance.
