Mohammed calls on diplomats to build bridges

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday urged UAE diplomats to extend bridges of friendship and cooperation with friendly countries.

Sheikh Mohammed spoke during an impromptu address at an iftar banquet following Maghreb prayers yesterday at Zabeel Palace.

The banquet was hosted in honour of UAE ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions and Emiratis representing international organisations.

Sheikh Mohammed also spoke of the new services introduced by the Foreign Ministry, including direct contact for UAE citizens abroad with the country's embassies.

Sheikh Mohammed called on ambassadors to always reflect the shining image of the UAE and to do their best in assisting UAE citizens abroad, especially students.

He stressed the importance of increasing the number of qualified female diplomats in UAE missions abroad.

Sheikh Mohammed lauded the performance of the Foreign Ministry under the stewardship of Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Also present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and other senior officials.
