Mohammed reviews DMI's 2011 media plan, orders promotions

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) media plan for 2011, during a meeting of the media organisation's supreme committee on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) hailed the achievements by the media entity over the past two years.

The meeting took place at Meydan Hotel in Nad Al Sheba, under the chairmanship of Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office and Managing Director of DMI, Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh.

During discussions, Sheikh Mohammed ordered the promotion of a number of departmental managers at DMI agencies, in recognition of the efforts of the country's young leaders in developing their professional environment and their loyalty in serving their country. He also ordered that DMI's doors be thrown open to attract even more qualified media graduates from the UAE, and that training courses be organised to facilitate their integration into DMI's television and radio networks, in addition to its press agencies.

He went on to direct that DMI be furnished with all necessary equipment and provisions, especially additional mobile television transmission vehicles, to enable enhanced coverage of local events.

Sheikh Maktoum expressed satisfaction at the performance of DMI which managed to become one of the Middle East's biggest media organisations and to win a number of prestigious regional and international awards.

A number of promotions and appointments of DMI staff members were ordered by Sheikh Maktoum. Dhaen Shaheen was appointed as CEO for Press Affairs at DMI; Ali Al Rumaithi as Director of Dubai TV; Ahmed Al Hammadi as CEO of commercial Affairs and marketing at DMI; Sarah Al Jerman as Deputy Director of Dubai One and Mahmoud Al Marzouqi as Deputy Director of the News Center at Dubai TV.

Abdul Rehman Al Ali, head of the engineering department at the Media Office of Dubai Government, was appointed as advisor for engineering affairs at DMI and Ali Al Hameli as head of the News Center at DMI.

Sheikh Maktoum urged all DMI staff to make more efforts and maintain DMI's excellence and performance at the high levels attained already in order to provide professional communication of the real facts as well as innovative content that respects the recipient's intellect.

The Managing Director of DMI praised Sheikh Mohammed's support for national institutions, saying that his presence at the meeting demonstrated his eagerness to learn about DMI's future plans. He further commended recent improvements in the credibility and transparency of local media, describing the progress as a true reflection of the UAE's social, cultural and economic realities.  

Al Shaikh concluded by thanking Sheikh Mohammed on behalf of DMI employees for the close attention and encouragement that he gives the organisation and its staff.
