Multiple accidents hit Dubai traffic

Peak-hour traffic in Dubai slowed down considerably after numerous car accidents were reported this morning.

Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road were the main highways that were impacted.

Dubai Police has cautioned drivers to be careful.

Five cars – one SUV, three sedans and one hatchback – were involved in the crash on Al Khail Road towards Dubai, resulting in a massive tailback.

The accident occurred around 8.50am on the Business Bay Bridge overlooking the Dubai Festival City, towards Dubai.


The stretch of the road has a 120kmph speed limit.

The extent of the injury of those involved in the accident is unknown.

Just off the bridge, another crash was seen, with the two damaged cars parked on the side of the road without obstructing traffic.

Meanwhile, Dubai Police tweeted about an accident on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

“An #accident has been reported in SMBZ rd after oval roundabout resulting in traffic delays. Please drive carefully and safely 09:03.”

Just minutes later, they reported another crash on Emirates Road. “An #accident has been reported on Emirates rd (former bypass rd) from Al Aweer bridge towards Abu Dhabi. There is traffic congestion .#dubai”

They also reported about a traffic snarl on Etihad Road. "A broken down vehicle on Etihad rd before Nahda tunnel towards #Dubai , resulting in traffic delays.
